Done with finals

Joseph just finished his last final yesterday morning. We are so happy they are over with. Joseph ended up staying all night on Tuesday and Thursday, studying for his Biochem. and Physiology exams. He didn't get any sleep, and I didn't get much, I guess I'm used to having him next to me all night that I couldn't sleep without him there. My sleep schedule has been all messed up, so I'm glad I'll be getting it back, as will Joseph. We are still waiting on his grades to come in, but I'm pretty sure he did amazing (whether he believes so or not). Now he gets to hang out and relax on his week break before his third quarter begins.

Hmmmmmmm

I went on a bike ride today, and the weather was absolutely beautiful. I'm glad I went, but now I am completely saddle sore! I have a gel bike seat butt it still hurts! After I came home from my ride I decided to have some lunch. I started buying yogurt to be healthy, and decided I was sick of the regular flavors so I bought banana cream pie (good), apple turnover (okay), and boston cream pie I took one bite and started gagging, it was so disgusting it was more like rotton boston cream pie. So fyi don't eat it. I think I'll go back to the normal traditional flavors, I've learned my lesson.

Doing Something Good

I know, I'm crazy, two posts in one day. But I simply couldn't go without blogging about my day today at work. My boss/owner hosts alot of "events" at our salon where we give free treatments usually it's to help bring in clients, but today we hosted a small event along with Next Coffee that's just a few stores east of us for an organization called "got hope?" It's essentially a group of women who have kids with cancer. Next coffee had a story time reading for the children, and Zethina's (where I work) had all the mother's (about fifteen or so) over. Zethina did a group make up lesson, and I gave them all hand treatments with paraffin wax. It wasn't much, but the mothers really seemed to appreciate the thought and the service. They were able to take a few moments and relax. Every one of them when they sat down told me that they would never have taken the time to do that for themselves. It really made me feel good to be working for someone who cares enough to host something like this. And it made me feel good to be a part of it as well.

To my fellow Estheticians

So I was at work yesterday, and my day was going really well until I had this woman come in with her two daughters wanting them to get their eyebrows waxed. I had an appointment in fortyfive minutes, and the receptionist asked me to do it. I agreed thinking that I would have enough time to get them in and out before my client arrived. Boy was I wrong. This woman was the most controlling nit picky woman I have ever met in my entire life. She told me she just wanted a light clean up on both her daughters brows, and that she wanted them to have an arch. I told her that was fine I could do that. She then proceeded to tell me how she didn't want them to be to "archy" and "high" so I only took out a few hairs. I asked if that was alright, and she said to take out a few more. After completing the first brow, I proceed to the second and match them up evenly. I let her walk me through the entire brow wax of her first daughter, because I'm a people pleaser, and I was hoping for a tip. I finish the first girls brows, and get the second in my chair and the mother goes onto tell me that she hated the way I did her other daughters brows that they were to lifted and archy. By this point I'm screaming inside my head (I did exactly what you asked, if you would have just let me do what I wanted it would have been fine), I'm completely frustrated. The mother then starts telling me that she likes my brows and wants her daughters to look like mine. So now I have to sit and explain to her that our brows are completely different and that I would never acheive that, because we have different genetics, and completely different shapes, so then this woman starts asking me if I could wax the top of her other daughters arch off. I then went to explain if I did this then her eyebrows would be straight across and she would look absolutely ridiculous. Her daughter told her mom that that's what she wanted (the mom) and not her, she liked her brows arched. I felt sorry for myself, but more so for her daughters they were beautiful girls and there mom was this frumpy woman, who clearly appeared to be jealous of her daughters looks. She was putting them down the whole time. I started waxing this girls brows, and finished with both sides, and the mother starts telling me that I need to take more hair off the left brow. I explained that if I did this then I would have to even up the right (which she didn't like because she didn't want to take any off the right). The mom then takes my spooly (mascara wand, used for combing brows) out of my hand, and starts jabbing her daughter in her brow with it, making her wince, showing me what I need to wax. I want to scream at this woman, but am saved when my boss comes into tell me my client is here and has been waiting for ten minutes. She obviously see's the murder in my eyes, and asks if I would like her to take over. I was so relieved I wanted to jump for joy. That woman was the absolute most ridiculous client I have ever had, and surprise surprise she didn't even tip. This story is for my fellow esthetic friends, who have to deal with stupid people, who are just looking to complain about everything in order to get a free service. Don't take their bullcrap!

Not my best facial or day for that matter

The spa is pretty slow right now with the economy and all, but today I had an appointment for a Classic Facial (it's just an hour long facial). Anyway I haven't done anything all week so I was pretty happy that I had something to do. That is until I got into the facial and started cleansing this girls skin, everything is going good until I to put the steamer on her. The stupid thing was stuck on the cord so I'm fighting with the stupid thing and finally get it positioned in front of her, I go to fill out her personal chart and have no pen, (we let them steam for ten minutes, and while they are under the steam we fill out their charts) I decide that's fine I'll do it later. I notice that I forgot to turn on the tea lights (they're battery operated) so I get up and turn those on. I sit back down and take off her Enzyme mask. I put on her goggles, flip on the mag lamp and I'm about to do extractions when I realize I forgot to get gloves (sorry but I'm not popping zits without gloves), so now I have to leave the room and get some. This girl is really nice she doesn't seem to care. I leave and come back and start extracting (there were some juicy ones it was great!). I take off my gloves and go to throw them away and completely miss the trash. I bend to pick them up while sitting in my chair and I completey topple over and there's this big crash. (I was completely embarrassed, who does that?) She started laughing and asked if I was okay, which I tell her I'm fine just embarrassed. I start doing the facial massage, and I suddenly have to SNEEZE in the middle of it, but when you do the massage your not suppose to remove your hands from their face, and I'm obviously not going to sneeze on her, so I hold it in and my whole body jumps, which made her jump. At this point I'm thinking can anything else go wrong? I finish with the rest of the facial, and I'm talking to her about her skin and what products to use. I reach into the cupboard to get some product and end up knocking over bottles on the shelf and dropping others on the floor. By this point I'm sure she thinks I'm an idiot. Needless to say, this wasn't my best facial.

To top the night off, I came home and made dinner. Joseph and I went to turn an episode on of one of the series we're watching (we rented from the library), and I mistakenly mailed it in our netflix envelope instead of the movie that was actually suppose to be mailed off. I called netflix up to notify them, and they said that I most likely won't be getting it back. Now I'm going to have to pay the library a fine, but the plus side is netflix is crediting our account ten dollars. But the question still remains, could I be more of a scatter brain?
